Essentials

Use IPv6

Choose the right place to enter the Niti hostname for cameras, NAS devices, computers, and other services.

A Niti name works only when both ends understand the connection. Check the viewer first, then enter the name in the correct field.

Check the viewer side

The viewer also needs IPv6. Open niti.vn/ip or an IPv6 test page on the phone or computer used for viewing. Many mobile networks have IPv6, while some office or cafe wifi networks may not.

niti.vn/ip

Keep IPv4 as a fallback

If the viewer or device only has IPv4, update the IPv4 record and forward the correct port on the modem. Niti keeps both records in parallel so you can switch access methods.

For each use

Use case Condition What and where to enter Common error
Camera The viewing phone or computer has IPv6, and the camera receives IPv6 on the home network. In the camera viewing app, enter <name>.niti.vn instead of the IP address. If the camera cannot update itself, run the Niti client on an always-on home computer or the router. An app may reject a name in an IP field. Look for a domain, DDNS, or server field, and allow the camera's IPv6 port in the firewall.
NAS The NAS has IPv6 and its management service allows access by hostname. In the NAS app or browser, enter <name>.niti.vn and the service port. The port or HTTP/HTTPS mode may be wrong, or the modem firewall may not allow the NAS port.
Home Assistant Home Assistant listens on a port and the computer running it has IPv6. In the Home Assistant app, enter https://<name>.niti.vn with your custom port when needed. A certificate, reverse proxy, or blocked port can prevent the connection.
Remote Desktop The Windows computer has Remote Desktop enabled and has IPv6. In Remote Desktop, enter <name>.niti.vn in the computer field and add the port if you changed the default. Windows Firewall or the modem may block the port, or the account may lack remote sign-in permission.
SSH The SSH host has IPv6 and publishes the SSH port you use. In the SSH app, use <name>.niti.vn as the host and enter the SSH port. A key, port, or modem firewall rule may be wrong.
Game server The game server accepts a hostname and its port is known. Enter <name>.niti.vn in the game's server address field. Many games accept only an IP address; in that case use IPv4 or check the game's capabilities.
Small website The web server has IPv6 and listens on the expected port. Open https://<name>.niti.vn, adding the port when the site uses a non-default port. A missing certificate, wrong port, or closed IPv6 firewall rule can prevent access.

Open the hostname page, choose Port check, and test IPv4 or IPv6 as needed.
